Contracts and orders that build themselves, without a line of Apex
An education software company was copying contract data between systems by hand. I made Salesforce the single source of truth.

What was going on
A software company in the education sector managed contracts and service orders through manual entry across Salesforce and DocuSign. A third-party Customer Success Application tracked contract information, but its integration with Salesforce was limited in how data could be mapped.
The result was inefficiency and discrepancies, with no reliable source of truth. They wanted a low or no-code solution to automate contracts and service orders, roll contract data up to client records and cut manual work.
What I was asked to do
- Run a discovery session on contract workflows and integration limits
- Design the automation of contract creation and deactivation
- Make Salesforce the source of truth for contracts and service orders
- Roll contracts and products up to Account records for reporting
- Work with stakeholders and system administrators to keep the third-party sync seamless
What I did
- Configured objects for Master Services Agreements, Service Order Forms, Contract Line Items and Asset Records
- Built record-triggered automation on Opportunity stage and type: new business creates the MSA, SOFs and line items automatically, while upsells and renewals prompt users to pick or create an MSA
- Extended the integration for two-way sync with the Customer Success Application, mapping fields and validating data with administrators
- Led end-to-end testing of the automation, configuration and integration
What changed
Manual data entry and errors dropped sharply, reporting got more accurate, and the two platforms stayed in step. Stakeholders said it matched the company’s objectives and showed real time savings.
Efficient by design
The work took roughly eight hours: two for objects and page layouts, four for automation and two for testing. A good reminder that the right design beats a big build.
Doing it responsibly
Strict data governance, minimal data transfers and secured API connections protected sensitive customer information. Permissions limited contract records to authorised people, and clear communication kept stakeholders informed about scope and limits.
