A KPI dashboard to see whether sales teams changed how they work
A global investment firm had moved to Lightning and wanted proof it was working. I built a dashboard on top of SuMo’s behavioural data.

What was going on
A global financial investment company had just moved from Salesforce Classic to Lightning Experience, hoping to improve the user experience and drive adoption among its sales teams. To judge whether it had worked, it needed to measure behavioural goals against real sales performance.
They asked for a bespoke KPI dashboard, built on behavioural data from SuMo (a gamification and coaching app within Salesforce), to give weekly stakeholder meetings something actionable to look at.
What I was asked to do
- Track behavioural data against measurable targets: percentile attainment, weekly thresholds and stretch targets that adjust with trends
- Offer an interface that both technical and non-technical stakeholders could use
- Integrate with SuMo as a licensed managed package, protecting compliance and preventing independent use
- Provide training and documentation so it kept being used
What I did
- Ran workshops with stakeholders to pin down the metrics and KPIs that mattered
- Built a modular, customisable dashboard in Lightning Web Components and Apex, with percentile tracking, thresholds and stretch targets
- Tested iteratively for accuracy, scalability and fit within the Salesforce environment, and checked data security and performance with the customer’s IT team
- Delivered tailored training and documentation for users and maintainers
What changed
- Stakeholders could easily see and assess sales team behavioural goals
- The data showed whether the Lightning migration was paying off
- Stretch targets supported continuous improvement
- Integration complied with Salesforce licensing and GDPR
- Training and documentation kept the weekly meetings productive
The point
A way to measure the return on a migration, not just announce it.
Doing it responsibly
I kept behavioural data GDPR-compliant with access limited to authorised users, was upfront about what the dashboard could and couldn’t do, and packaged it as a licensed add-on so it couldn’t be used outside its intended scope. It was designed so non-technical colleagues could use it too.
